Persimmons

ARISA Products 0008 sharon 74199 640Sharon Fruit / Persimmons

The Sharon Fruit or better known in South Africa, Persimmon Fruit, will grow and flourish in most of the fruit producing areas of the Western Cape. There are very few persimmons produced in the Southern Hemisphere and South Africa is the largest and most advanced Southern Hemisphere producer of Sharon Fruit.

Our partners in Israel are the dominant Northern Hemisphere supplier of Sharon Fruit. They have invested millions of rands to establish and built a state of the art packhouse and coldstore facility in Buffeljagsrivier (about 10km from Swellendam on the N2).

The fruit is very astringent and inedible in the orchard and packhouse, thus making it unattractive to both animals and mankind. The fruit however will become sweet and tender once treated and before shipping to our overseas markets.

WITH or WITHOUT the SKIN

Sharon Fruit ripens later than most other fruit types (May/June) and storage life is about 3 months. The Southern Hemisphere is therefore the natural counter season supplier. The fruit itself can be used in many different ways, including making Jams, Atjar, Chutney, etc. It is an important fact to remember the the entire fruit is edible, soft or firm, it is ALWAYS READY to eat, once treated. The Sharon Fruit has no seeds or pips. The best is, it can be eaten firm like a apple or soft as a peach, with or without the skin. The fruit can be refrigerated for 12 days or will soften at room temperature within 6 days. Eaten fresh , Sharon Fruit is a healthy, convenient snack for adults and children. Eating one Sharon Fruit a day is enough to help prevent heart attacks and reducing the risk of heart diseases.

So lets stay healthy……eat Sharon Fruit for a good Heart & Healthy Body.
